It's a...

BOY!!
Yes, you read correctly. And, most of you guessed correctly! Baby Shulse is indeed a boy! Jesse and I were excited about either possibility, but we were really excited to hear he is a boy. I have no idea what to do with a boy or what a house looks like with blue (I had all sisters growing up, for those who don't know), but it will be fun to try something new. Jesse's comment was, "yay! Someone to help me cut the grass!" Haha.

He is very healthy and measuring perfect for his original due date of October 6. Apparently, when we had our 12-week ultrasound, over 2 months ago, the ultrasound technician thought it was a boy, but did not say anything! She said it is a game they play, trying to see how accurate they can guess from the early appointment.

My favorite picture from the ultrasound was his little wave- all fingers outstretched, saying "Hi Mom and Dad!"
And of course, you cannot beat the profile picture.
(Sorry for the lack of quality with the pictures, but hopefully you can at least see general outlines.)
When we told Ryleigh, she said "baby bubba?" So cute. Then Julie asked her if she wanted a baby brother and she said, "uh, nooooo!" We just laughed, because she truly has no idea what she is talking about.
I'm excited to continue to get to know this little man as he grows. Something tells me we will see him sooner than we realize...time is flying by right now! :)

Congratulations Melody, how exciting:). I was a little boy ignorant as well (3 sisters and my brother is 13 years older) but thankfully my sisters had each had a boy before I had Ethan. Either way, it wasn't so traumatic as it turned out:). When I was reading Bringing Up Boys by Dobson it was hilarious to tell Joel about what I was "learning" about boys and he was like yeah, I knew that...I guess BEING a man helps;)!
