Sweet husband :)

I meant to post this story last week, but have not had time. However, it warmed my heart and I certainly do not want to forget, so better late (to post) than never!

Last week was another whirlwind week. I had a pile of work to do, deadlines to make, a few big meetings (including the company mandatory 2-hour meeting), plus normal life! I was a stress ball all week long, and frankly completely forgot about the company meeting on Thursday.

Wednesday afternoon, I remembered. Not only that, but that I had said something to one of the ladies about TIGER providing some kind of gift or goodie bag for everyone. I was in panic mode. I went to the Dollar Store that afternoon and bought a lot of cheap candy and some curly ribbon. Then I went home, cut off the "zippers" from 60 of my Ziploc sandwich baggies, and begin to fill them all with candy. Next, I went to the computer and printed off 60 "Merry Christmas, From TIGER" tags. I had the entire kitchen table covered in bags of candy, that I needed to tie a ribbon around, hole punch the tags, and tie through the ribbon.

Well, Jesse had done his long run up at the park that night, and had run into an old friend. He called me around 6:30 when he finished running, and said he was chatting, but would be home soon. He did not get home until around 7:30. Needless to say, by that time, Ryleigh was cranky and ready for her bath/bedtime. We worked together to get her ready and finally down for bed.

Then I went into my room to figure out what I was going to wear for the meeting. Nada. So, I told Jesse I was going to run up to Target and get a shirt to wear. (This was around 8:30.) I went, and tried on every single shirt in the store. Talk about frustrating. Anyway, I finally left around 9:30. I knew by the time I got home, Jesse would be in bed. He normally goes to bed around 9:30, and since he had run, I figured he would be exhausted.

I walked in to find the t.v. OFF (a shocker in itself!) and him sitting at the kitchen table, tying ribbons around the bags of candy and adding the Christmas tags-- he had already finished about half of the bags; curling the leftover ribbons and all!!

When I say I was stunned and completely dumbfounded, I don't mean it in a negative way. It is not that Jesse is a lazy or mean person. But like most men, he doesn't normally just help with stuff that is not directly related to him or if I have not specifically asked for his help. This time, I did not say a word, nor did I in any way expect him to help me with work stuff. And to think he was sitting there, by himself, doing it, just for me??

I walked over and of course thanked him, but then told him he did not have to worry anymore, that I knew he was tired, and could feel free to go to bed. He did not! He stayed and helped me finish every last bag, saying that he did not want me to be up all night working on them by myself. Wow. We sat there, working together and chatting, (with the t.v. OFF!) until every bag was tied, every ribbon was curled, and the bags were by the door ready to go.

I know that Jesse is a sweet and caring man. I know that he loves me very much. I know that he likes to help lighten my load when possible. But man, can I tell how much that one act, which probably seemed small and insignificant to him, reminded me of all those sweet things I love about my husband?? God is so good to bless me with such a man. :)

Way to go Jesse! What a great reminder of what wonderful men we have! It's times like that that make you wonder "Why do I gripe about little things?" Thanks for sharing that story. Jesse is a great husband and loves you so much!
