Worthy of thanksgiving?

The following conversation occurred in my car yesterday, after I picked Ryleigh up from school. She had celebrated Thanksgiving with a big "Thanksgiving feast," and had been asked what she was thankful for.

Mommy: "So, how was your feast? Did you eat a lot of yummy food?"

Ryleigh: "Umm, no."

Mommy: "Oh. Did you learn about the Pilgrims and the Indians?"

Ryleigh: "Umm, no."

Mommy: "Did you say what you were thankful for?"

Ryleigh: "Yes! I'm thankful for my friend, Maggie!"

Mommy: "Aww, that is a good thing to be thankful for! Friends are a blessing, for sure!"

(pause)

Ryleigh: "Mommy, do you know what else I'm thankful for?"

(I pause, smiling, as I anticipate her thankfulness for her Mommy...)

Mommy: "No. What else are you thankful for?"

Ryleigh: "Chick-fil-A!!"

Suffice to say that I guess the girl would prefer chicken nuggets over turkey and thanksgiving day feasts?? Anyway, I hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving, eat lots of turkey, and celebrate all the blessings in your life. We are so blessed, and I will think of each of you as I count my blessings tomorrow.

Happy Thanksgiving!
